Servicing - Darn it!

I now have 600 miles on the Wing and its is time for its first service. Trouble is that I can”t get it done until 31st May which is especially galling as the weather is just perfect at the moment. I had a great ride yesterday down to the New Forest which was full of this year’’s new foals

I imagine I shall get my regular servicing done at Doble’’s but for ad-hoc work on the bike and even just thorough cleaning, it seems as if it would be useful to get the bike up in the air, so I have been looking at bike lifts. The one that seems to be the best is here

I have also got myself a set of DVD’’s by Fred Harmon that cover the maintenance of the bike and even though he is not talking about the 2007 model, I think they will be very useful for occasional forays under the skin. One of the first things I want to do is to install a charging lead for my Optimate battery charger.

I gave the GPS a bit of a workout on this trip and whilst it is not nearly as feature rich as the Tomtom, it does do a very good job of point to point navigation. As others have said, it is a bore that it doesn”t show the names of towns - seems completely daft.

    Hi Chris,
Saw the link from your post re Blogs

Didn”t know you were into bikes  .
Very nice colour for the wing.

I had it’’s rival the BMW K1200LT when it first came out, me & the missus loved every minute, 35,000 miles touring Europe in 4 years.

    Best Regards
    John

    Hi John,
Thanks for dropping by. Yes, I have always been a bit of a bike nut! The Wing’’s colours are strictly limited each year - this year it was the one I chose, sliver or black. I do like the wine colour but might have chosen differently if there had be a wider rabge of choices - I quite fancied the yellow the bike first appeared in!

I tried the BMW K1200LT, also when it first came out but the LOML didn”t care for the back seat

    Cheers,
    Chris
