Non-fitting engine bars
0 Comments Published by woodgen July 15th, 2008 in BMW, Bits and Pieces, GPS, Handling, Maintenance, Patagonia, off-roadI bought some SW Motech engine bars for the GS from Nippy Normans. They were a good price compared with other makes and they arrived swiftly. Both left hand and right hand bars went on the bike easily enough although the lower bolts must have been made from putty as the hex key started to [...]
Yesterday I went off to North Walsham to pick up my new trailer at Freewheel and also got a trailer towbar fitted at the same time. The weather going up was horrid - a grey murk that resembled a London smog in many ways, except for the foul smell that used to accompany those. It [...]
I took the GS this morning to get the off-road tyres fitted. They are Continental TKC 80s, a road-legal tyre with a good blocky pattern that should be much better in the mud than the road tyres. I”ll get a chance to try that out tomorrow! On the way home. I was treading somewhat carefully [...]
After riding the GS for the last few days, I took the Goldwing out this morning and it took me a couple of miles before I felt at home again on such a different machine - I even tried to switch the indicators in the stupid BMW mode! I think the thing that [...]
Picked it up from South London Motorcycles this morning! The bike feels really stable and planted in the corners, new tyres notwithstanding. Only a few miles on the clock so far but I have booked the first 600 mile service for two weeks hence, so I hope the weather will cooperate!
I am really looking forawrd [...]
Lovely weather!
0 Comments Published by February 27th, 2008 in BMW, Biking Gear, Goldwing, Handling, TouringWe have had a great February weatherwise! I have been out on the bike a lot in splendidly sunny weather and feeling warm enough until the sun goes behind a cloud when it suddenly feels cold and you realise that this is still officially winter with over 3 weeks to go before spring. The apparent [...]
And still brilliant today as well. I took myself off to Wiltshire on Saturday for a bit of gentle, aimless wandering around the hillier bits. I was pleased to find that once off the main roads, the smaller ones were pretty quiet. It was such a lovely day, inevitably quite a bit of traffic had [...]
Off Road Again
0 Comments Published by September 22nd, 2007 in Biking Gear, Handling, Patagonia, off-roadWell, I survived another bout of off-roading. This was certainly an experience and totally unlike the BMW course last weekend. I have to say that the BMW course was in my view much better value and far more professionally run. To be fair, the BMW course advertised itself as skills building whereas the Honda offering [...]
Patagonia Preparations
2 Comments Published by July 20th, 2007 in BMW, Biking Gear, Camping, Goldwing, Handling, Patagonia, TouringThis is supposedly a blog about my Goldwing experiences but the weather is keeping the lid on those at present! The great performance of the Wing in bad weather has shown me that I needn”t fear a bit of rain but the skies and forecasts do nothing to encourage me on to it at the [...]
Today I racked up 3000 miles on the Goldwing - I have had it now for 59 days and allowing for the 8 days when I couldn”t ride it (waiting for the 600 mile service) that equates to 3000*365/51 = 21,471 miles in a year if I ride at the present rate. Putting aside all [...]
